Run Austin posted on FaceBook yesterday: "Treadmills or run in the rain?" Out of the 38 people who commented, only one replied 'treadmill.'
I love running in the rain. It's nicer on a bark trail (though messier). I once ran 2 miles over my average daily run because the rain felt so nice & I couldn't stop.
It wasn't raining when I left the house this morning, but halfway through, it started coming down at a steady pace. Logan tried to stop under every tree, poor thing. I loved it. The drops were cooling, and I was already drenched from sweat. The only problem was my iPod. I ended up tucking it under my arm, under my shirt. Next time, I'll bring a little zip-lock baggie to slide it into.
I got to hang with my brother last night. He drove in from Carlsbad, NM for a short visit. I asked if he runs with his pit, Cedar, and he said no, he ends up having to drag her along most of the way... so it's not just me... I hope Logan learns to run alongside me. I really want him to be my running buddy.
Yesterday in yoga, I noticed some little yoga wins:
Being able to put my palms flat on the floor in my first forward-bend of the session :)
Getting a nice arch in Dancer's Pose - so nice that the instructor asked me to demonstrate - and being able to hold the pose with good balance :)
Being able to push myself up into a full bridge without help :)
Holding Warrior 3 with good balance and a more horizontal upper body :)
And a lot of other tiny spots where I could go just a bit deeper, hold just a bit longer, balance just a bit better :)
I love the moment when I notice improvement. It's the best reward ever. Like when I took a workshop with one of the Indigo girls at the very beginning of my belly dance training, and I sucked at everything... but the next time I trained with one of them, I was able to keep up, to retain more, to accomplish more, and it was the best feeling in the world.
