Logan Tried to Eat a Mailbox

Yoga felt soooo good yesterday. That is such a wonderful thing, after an entire week of everything feeling crappy. Even just lying down hurt. I'm back to normal, though, thanks to Gilda!!

I took Philip out for sushi at Uchi last night with Jessi & Adam. None of us had been there before. It was every bit as wonderful as everyone said it would be. We ate until we couldn't possibly eat another bite. Then we had dessert. I think I got five stars for making good birthday plans this year. He's not fond of being the center of attention at a party, so a private dinner with just a couple of friends was right up his alley. Plus, we both LOVE sushi.

It seems to have been the perfect idea to backtrack to week 1 of learning to run. My lower legs & feet were just a tad sore after Monday's run 2 / walk 3, but recovered nicely with a day of rest. Running for 2 minutes is extremely easy for me at this point, but I know that my feet (newly clad in VFFs) need time to catch up with the rest of me. Logan's doing a bit better, too. It might be due to the fact that there aren't as many kittens out this week. (omg) He did, however, have a run-in with a mailbox this morning. It was detached & sitting on the ground. (looks like they were building one of those limestone brick columns for it) Maybe it looked like a crouched critter to him. He went completely alert, and I started looking around for the source. Then he did the lunge-and-sniff that nearly ripped my arm out. I hope he felt dumb when he realized it was just a mailbox.

I got new toys! Okay, they're just little things, but I'm pleased with them. I got an upper arm holster for my iPod and a little spray thingy of pepper spray that straps to my hand. Yes, I'm paranoid. I know that I run with an 85 lb pit bull, but just in case that's not a deterrent... I'd like a second line of defense. Also, now that the iPod is closer to my ears, I can run without headphones - which makes me feel safer & more aware. (at 5 AM, there's no one to hear the happy Indian music that I like to run to)

Okay, okay, off to work. Tonight, I get to play in the garden, and make raw chili!!
