I woke up yesterday morning with itchy palms. I thought "Hey! I must be about to come into a shitload of money, because my palms are itching like CRAZY!!" Then I couldn't remember which palm meant money coming in & which palm meant money going out, and did it really matter because BOTH palms are itching, so they cancel each other out... So why the hell do they itch in the first place?!
I went for a run. It was actually nice & cool for a change. My iPod was nearly dead, so I didn't get to listen to music, just set the little timer app. On Monday, Logan and I ran into a wild weiner on the loose (translation - fat old daschund off-leash & ready to romp), so I was keeping an eye out. People don't seem to like it when your 85 lb dog makes a dive for their 10 lb dog... I know he just wants to play, but...
When I got back, and got into the shower, I noticed that I had hives across my lower back. Breaking out in hives isn't unusual for me. The location was abnormal, but I randomly break out in hives for no reason that anyone can pinpont on a fairly regular basis. Usually, they go away after awhile. Sometimes I take half a Benedryl, but it's no big deal.
So, I went into work, but my left hand was still itching terribly, and starting to swell. I took a Benedryl... 40 minutes later, no change - possibly worse. A co-worker demands that I call my doctor. My doctor demands that I come in.
SIGH
Ok
We talk for a few minutes about what might have caused it, but I can't identify anything that might be the culprit. She suggests that I check to see if my insurance will cover an $800 allergy test. (my guess is that they will cover part of it, but not enough to make it affordable)
She decided to give me a shot of epinephrine and prednisone, saying it might make me "a little jittery"
I could barely walk, I was shaking so bad. I spent two hours shaking uncontrollably on the couch, and then I passed out cold. Philip said I was still twitching and shaking in my sleep. I honestly think that was worse than the hives.
Today, my little hive friends are mostly congregated on the sides of my rib cage & upper back, with a few strays here & there & pretty much everywhere. It's pretty awful, and I'm not sure what to do about it.
In more positive news...
I made the most awesome trade evar! We had about 100 5 gallon pickle buckets in our yard. Philip uses them to bring home the compostables from Black Sheep Lodge. We desperately needed to get rid of them, so I put out the word that they were up for grabs. A friend responded that her father-in-law would like them for his bee keeping operation. He got the buckets, and we got THREE big jars of AMAZING local honey! Mmmmm.....
I got the new Ani Phyo raw recipe book, Ani's Raw Food Essentials. I decided to make dessert for dinner Tuesday night, so we had brownies and ice cream. The ice cream recipe is from the book, the brownie recipe is not.
Alright, I have to go concentrate my energies on not scratching. That is nearly impossible. :(
